TERM 2, 2013

Term 2, 2013  What a BUSY class we have been!!

 We have been...
  • doing hand and foot paint art
  • producing country studies
  • writing letters to fairy tale characters
  • making Japanese Koi Carp fish
Japanese Koi Carp fish. We sketched them on A3 paper. We thought about our scales - what worked and what didn't. We had to keep very focused on this task.  When we finished we were very proud of our work. They make our class room look amazing, but remember no fishing in room 10!!

Cross Country  We are very proud of room 10. Everyone participated in this event. We tried hard and got some very good placings.

Reciprocal Reading We read in our groups about all different cultures. We gathered facts from the text and presented them on A4 paper.  They look fantastic!

English  Our english lessons are challenging and encourage us to work independently. We have three main focuses Spelling, Vocabulary Enrichment and Formal Grammar.

We are trying to make our class colourful and interesting to be in.  We think we have done a great job so far.

KIDS CAN COOK with Chris

Today we enjoyed a session with Chris at his mobile kitchen 'Kids can Cook'.  Brooklyn was chosen as the chef's helper and Jesse was the photographer.  We were introduced to French crepes with silver beet and apple.  Most of us liked the taste, but a few thought otherwise.  We were even given the opportunity to eat the plates, yes, that's right...the plates were edible - not too tasty though!

Washing hands while singing 'Happy Birthday'.

Flour, eggs, milk...

Beating...beating...beating!!!!

Question time...

Watching eagerly...except Jake...no surprises there!

Mixing with the audience...
In the vegie garden...

How not to chop fingers off!!!!!

Ready for the tasting...

Sharing the edible plates...ummm, now we've heard everything!!

Ready......

Waiting...

Tia's face says it all...thumbs down for her!!!

Jesse says big THUMBS up for him!!!!!

Sophy's turn to be the photographer...

Brooklyn is ready to take on Masterchef NZ!!!

Ummm, Lacey, Tayla and Tia are rather worried that they were going to have to have another taste...

Add caption

Mia clearly didn't like the taste, the texture...and Bree...well her body language says it all!!

YUMMMMMMY...delicious!

CONFLICT RESOLUTION - VIDEO

CONFLICT RESOLUTION - RAP

Yo! have a problem, talk it out
Work together, don’t scream and shout.
Problems do not just go away,
It all depends on what you do or say.

Tell what’s happened
Say what’s true.
Listen to the other point of view.
Be polite don’t name-call or fight
Getting even just is not right.

List ideas, things that will work
Say sorry if needed
Or fix what we broke
Find a solution that we both can do
Try to find one that fits me and you.

All Our options...
Use your words
Take turns
Ignore
Choose another activity
Make a deal
Apologise
Walk away
Yo, wait and chill out.

Have a problem, talk it out
Work together, don’t scream and shout.
Problems do not just go away,
It all depends on what you do or say.

Tell what’s happened
Say what’s true.
Listen to the others point of view.
Be polite don’t name-call or fight
Getting even is just not right.

List ideas, things that work
Say sorry if needed
Or fix what we broke
Find a solution that we both can do
Try to find one that fits me and you.
