Measurement surprises! -By Tara

This term every Thursday we are focusing on measurement, so Mrs Shepard gave us a weight task.
We had to search for anything that weighed 25grams. Eventually everyone found something around the  school that weighed 25grams. Room 10 really enjoys measurement.

Miss B - update

Thailand before Africa.....
I was made to climb this derelict building for my training!!!!
25 storeys high and very scary as everything is open, even the lift shafts! So many hotels like this can be found in Asia. They are started, then money runs out and they are just left. The penthouse suite wasn't very inviting!

Great food.... Bbq Thai style

Scavenger Hunt - By Lizzie

Today in maths Mrs Shepard sent us on a scavenger hunt. First we had to make a estimate what was 1cm, 50cm and 1m and then we went off to measure what we thought was the right measurements.
Some of the things we measured were the width of a door handle for 1cm but the actual measurement was 2cm. Some of our measurements were like 1.5 cm, but we also learnt that this also means 15 miler meters.

Hi from Miss Baillie

Vietnam....
Eating traditional pho ( a clear soup  with beef, pork or chicken, you add fresh salad, sprouts, chilli, fish sauce and lime to it . In a small room three storeys up. This family live in this tiny room, 3 sisters and one friend. They have one set of bunks and a thin squab on the floor. All the cooking is done in this room and the washing up is done in the tiny bathroom, in the sink where both the toilet and shower are. We were invited to their home for dinner, which was a privilege. We were picked up on motorbikes, thousands of bikes are on the streets here and there is constant tooting of horns. To get there, we had to go down lots of narrow alleyways. It was lovely experience and we were treated like royalty.

Candy Floss Planet???

Today we continued our descriptive language focus and we had a look at the picture below. As a class we brainstormed words that describe this picture, such as...

spectacular, dark, lonely, spooky, majestic, cold, isolated

After we completed a brainstorm we all created a passage of writing based on this picture.

What do YOU think is happening in this picture? Post your ideas in the comment below.

Would you like a SYNONYM with that?

In Room 10 we are focussing on making our writing more interesting! One way to do this is by making sure we use words that catch the listeners attention.

Today we made some McDonalds synonym chips!!! Can you think of some synonyms for these words...

Small
Big
